An image converter with no upload
The picture is read on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no account or watermark.
JPG, PNG and WebP are written by the browser’s own encoder. AVIF is offered only when that encoder exists, which today means Chromium and some versions of Safari. Firefox can read AVIF and, depending on the version, may not write it. The button is hidden when it would fail.
Which format to convert to
Convert to JPG for email, forms and anything that must open on an old computer. Convert to PNG when you need a lossless file or a hard-edged graphic. Convert to WebP for a website. Convert to AVIF when you want the smallest file and you know the viewer supports it.
HEIC to JPG is common enough to have its own page. This converter will also open a HEIC and write PNG or WebP.
| From | To | What you should expect |
|---|---|---|
| PNG | JPG | A smaller photo. Transparency becomes white. |
| JPG | PNG | A larger file. The quality does not come back. |
| PNG or JPG | WebP | A smaller file most browsers can show. |
| HEIC | JPG, PNG or WebP | An iPhone photo in a format other tools open. |
Transparency and quality
PNG, WebP and AVIF can keep a transparent background. JPG cannot. A transparent image saved as JPG is flattened. For a cutout, remove the background first and download PNG.
Converting JPG to PNG does not repair compression. It only wraps the same pixels. Convert lossless to lossless when you still have the original.
